Today, I started reading Wild at Heart by John Eldredge. Who, recently, has become one of my favorite writers, if not my favorite writer period. I have read Wild at Heart before but, not under these circumstance. Before, I read this book because the group I was a part of was reading it, or my friend wanted to teach the class, or etc...
However, I reading it this time under my own power. I wanted to read it for me, and fully grasp the lessons Mr. Eldredge is teaching through the book. I'm going to divide the book into 12 weeks. 1 week of each chapter, to fully breakdown and think about what is being presented.
As a side study to Wild at Heart, I am going to begin a study on King David, which I believe is a total encompassing view of a true Godly man. King David, as the Bible stated was "...a man after His [God] own heart, and the LORD has commanded him to be commander over His people" 1 Samuel 13:14. He was also a man who killed thousand of men, but yet weeped when he displeased God. This is a man I would love to take valuable lessons from, for a long time now.
Through this lesson, that I am titling Authentic Masculinity, I hope that God opens my heart and mind of what a true image of what a Christian man is suppose be. I believe it is not the image that most churches give off as just a NICE GUY. As well as showing my why he put this sense of adventure, and war in me as well as every other man on this planet.
Well, thats the intro to this series. I'm sorry I do not have a fancy video advertisement, but I hope you come, follow, and learn something from this. If you want to study along with me, just give me a shout, and we can play email tag and just shoot ideas back and forth, to truly fully understand this great book written by Mr. Eldredge.
Thank you all, and may God bless
